Why. Why work with C2?
Over the last 15 years design has definitely becoming “a thing” (and thank goodness), I mean, I’m SUPER glad people finally realize just how important design is to our quality of life. When I started my little business 13 years ago there were a handful of design firms in the Houston area. Now it seems that EVERYONE is a graphic designer! Firms are popping up everywhere, many of which have some pretty impressive website that make their business look BIG and BOOMING even though it might be comprised of one designer working from a home office… wait that’s me.
So, how do you know which design firm is right for your project? Should you be scared to work with a designer/firm that doesn’t have a fancy office space or even an office at all? How will you know they are going to be easy to contact or take your job seriously?
Believe me, I get it. Designers are artists, and artists have the bad rap of being flaky at times. But not all designers will be this way. You have to do your research, and the best way to start is by getting referrals from friends and colleagues. Check out work from these referrals and make sure their designs are up to your standards and inline with your needs. CALL, (not email), the designer/firm to chat. Make sure they take the time to answer all your questions. If they are willing to chat a while you are certainly on a good track.
I get several email inquiries a week. I try to reply to as many of the inquires as I can, but not all of the jobs are a good fit for the services I provide. I let potential clients know that up front. I make sure to call back those inquiries that sound promising as soon as I can. I love to chat with people, get to know them and their needs. I make sure to give them the download on my services and style along with my process. This way there are no surprises and the potential client will know upfront how I work. I give them realistic time frames and let them know in advance what my working schedule looks like should they be on a tight deadline.
I’m in it for the long haul. I prefer to build long-lasting relationships. I enjoy getting to know the “ins” and “outs” of a client’s business, not because I have to (even though I do) but because I love learning new things! And once I’ve built that relationship things become easy (so to speak). I know the client’s likes and dislikes. We build a great partnership based on trust. Nothing makes me happier than my client knowing they can depending on me at any time.
Some of my best clients come from referrals. This is a very good reason for me to the best work possible for my clients. Give me a call sometime if you are in need of design services and lets chat! And if you are in need of some further assurance I’ve got plenty of clients that are willing to chat with you too.
